Halloween Fun on Lafayette’s Campus

The Trick or Treat Fun Run took place on Saturday October 24th. The event consisted of a run around the quad, a costume competition, and included lots of fun and festive crafts and activities.

Prior to the run, each contestant was able to design and decorate their own trick or treating bag to collect candy as they passed the athletes along the run. After collecting the candy, the kids were able to participate in various activities including pin the basketball on the mummy, potato sac races, and much more! All these events were accompanied by several arts and craft stations including designing your own necklace, decorating a pumpkin, making your own mummy, and a face painting station.

During the event, Halloween themed music was played to keep the energy up and running! The entry fee for the event was $5 a participant and the cost of entering the costume competition was a donation of 2 canned food items. The proceeds from the event went to benefit the local boys and girls club and the canned food items collected will be donated to a local food bank. The winner of our costume competition was contestant number 1, Countess Dracula. Our winner received a large candy prize including a pumpkin trick or treating bucket, silly bands, and an assortment of candy!

The event  was held on a beautiful fall day here on the Lafayette College campus.  The fact that the kids had such a good time really provides us with some extra motivation to continue to improve this event into the future.

We would like to thank both Wegmans and Giant grocery stores making this event a reality. We would also like to thank all of our volunteers and the boys and girls who participated.  It was a wicked good time and we can’t wait to see you next year!
